NFL FOOTBALL IS BACK IN SAN DIEGO AND AROUND THE LEAGUE

"Ready, set go; it's been a while but football is back, and so is Bo, so sit back, relax, and get ready for America's finest athletic show!!"

First off, lets get some things straight. I'm a San Diego born and bred guy, and a Chargers fan first, and I'm happy to have Philip Rivers, a total badass, the best quarterback on the planet, leading my team. That being said, if my articles are a little Chargers heavy, too damn bad, as I'll discuss them a lot.

However, I'm a football fan in general, and I know my stuff, make no mistake, and I'll tell you how it is without pulling punches. I'm not perfect, I make mistakes now and then, but football is the greatest sport there is, so let's get you caught up, starting with the Bolts I love; but here's a little disclaimer...

I haven't written for months, so I'm going to bounce around a little bit here, so I hope you have some patience with me...

OK, first up (and foremost): The Chargers... I won't get into the draft pick names, if you're reading this, you've read all that, (and we'll revisit that later) and hopefully, they'll come through. As most locals know, last night was the first public practice, and my blood is finally flowing again, so...

We have PR (Philip Rivers), the guy who's fire burns deep within and bright, then we got Eric Weddle back, we have Vincent Jackson (VJ) at least for this season, Patrick Crayton is ready to roll, Seyi Arjitutu (Tutu) is ripping it up in practice, and we have an SDSU (San Diego State University) alumni kid, Vincent Brown. M80 (Malcolm Floyd) is in the process of deciding to return or travel elsewhere. While his return would be nice, life without him will continue

Left Tackle Marcus McNeil is back for the full season, center Nick Hardwick is at full strength, Dirty Dielman (Kris Dielman), is back, right tackle Jeromy Clary has been resigned, outstanding backup Brandon Dombrowski is ready to rock, the O-Line is prepared to protect Rivers and keep him upright. Ryan Matthews is healthy, as is Mike Tolbert and Jacob Hester. Gone is Darren Sproles and Legadu Nanee, as well as Buster Davis, but our receiving core will be fine as will the return game with options like Antoine Cason, and Matthews should be much improved in third down situations this season over last.

The line backing crew has been a little shaken up, gone are dependable vets Kevin Burnett, Stephen Cooper and local hero Antwain Applewhite, but the Bolts have brought in Takeo Spikes from the San Fransisco Forty Niners, Shaun Phillips is still there and Larry English is ready to show he can play in the NFL as a starter, and rookies are competing to help out.

Bob Sanders has come on board to help out the defensive backfield, and Quentin Jammer, while not my favorite player by a long shot, is a capable corner, Antoine Cason had a setback with a broken finger a few days ago but he'll be fine in a few weeks, and of course Weddle will be back there, ready to drill receivers daring to come his way.

The defensive line will be alright, with Luis Castillo on one side, Antonio Garay in the middle, and capable reserves. Jacques Cesaire has also been resigned.

The San Diego Chargers are going to be in pretty decent shape on both sides of the ball.

Now for the rest of the NFL; because remember, the Bolts are not the only team trying to not only get better, but win the elusive Super Bowl... Everybody is undefeated and in first place at this point...
